With urbanization increasing both globally and in the United States, the post-war boom of suburbanization is looking more and more like a bubble ready to burst. Over half of the poor in a metro area now live in the suburbs, and since the year 2000 poverty has climbed 5x faster in the burbs than it has in the city. Only 7% of Americans lived in suburbs in 1910, and it looks like that although I doubt the states will hit that number any time soon, it seems to be dwindling by the day. This infographic from insurancequotes.org shows some numbers that really go against conventional wisdom.
