With urbanization increasing both globally and in the United States, the post-war boom of suburbanization is looking more and more like a bubble ready to burst. Over half of the poor in a metro area now live in the suburbs, and since the year 2000 poverty has climbed 5x faster in the burbs than it has in the city. Only 7% of Americans lived in suburbs in 1910, and it looks like that although I doubt the states will hit that number any time soon, it seems to be dwindling by the day.
